About me

Engineer and BI platform owner shipping data products, reporting suites, and full-stack apps in regulated student lending.

Engineer and BI platform owner in regulated student lending

Engineer and analytics lead with 7+ years of experience owning BI platforms, reporting suites, and data pipelines in regulated financial services. Deep background in student lending operations, with proven success building Power BI and Snowflake-based reporting end-to-end — from stakeholder discovery and KPI standardization through delivery, adoption, and ongoing maintenance.

Strong record of partnering across product, operations, compliance, and executive leadership to translate ambiguous reporting needs into scalable, audit-ready solutions. Comfortable migrating legacy reporting estates, driving platform adoption, and operating independently against competing priorities — and equally comfortable in code, shipping full-stack PWAs, serverless APIs, and AI-augmented tooling end-to-end.

Professional experience

Connecting strategy, engineering, and operations to deliver measurable change.

Lead Business Execution Consultant — Data & Reporting
SLM Corporation (Sallie Mae Bank)
April 2018 to present
  • Own end-to-end design, delivery, and maintenance of Power BI and SQL-based reporting solutions across collections, fraud, compliance, and servicing domains — supporting 1,000+ business users with real-time visibility into operational KPIs.
  • Write and optimize advanced Snowflake SQL queries powering executive dashboards, reconciliation reports, and operational analytics in a federally regulated student lending environment.
  • Partner directly with product, operations, compliance, and senior leadership to translate ambiguous reporting needs into scalable BI solutions, standardized KPI definitions, and documented reporting frameworks.
  • Reduced manual reporting effort by 60% by automating recurring data pulls, transformations, and report generation in Python — freeing the analytics team for higher-value strategic work.
  • Built and maintained data pipelines integrating Python, Snowflake, and SQL that power automated documentation and QA workflows — improving data accuracy, audit readiness, and pipeline reliability.
  • Designed an AI-augmented testing platform that generates Snowflake test cases from structured inputs across six categories — accelerating data validation and reducing manual QA cycles in production reporting pipelines.
  • Ship full-stack engineering work across collections, fraud, and money-movement domains using Python, TypeScript, and React — bridging product gaps for internal stakeholders.
  • Own Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD discipline for analytics tooling — applying enterprise-grade release practices (branch review, change auditing, merge controls) to BI deliverables.
  • Drive internal adoption of analytics tooling: communicate platform capabilities, train downstream users, and position BI as a self-service resource across the organization.
  • Plan and prioritize the reporting roadmap in partnership with stakeholders; communicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs clearly and consistently to business and technical leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, data security, and audit standards across all analytics deliverables in a federally regulated financial services environment.

SLM Corporation (Sallie Mae Bank)
June 2017 to March 2018
  • Worked directly in the contact center to understand agent workflows and customer behavior.
  • Built a strong base in regulatory rules, call handling standards, and data privacy controls.
  • Used that frontline experience to later shape the tools built for those same agents.
  • Managed sensitive customer data with consistent adherence to internal and external rules.

PartnerPulse — Partner Relationship Analytics Platform
Sole builder · partnerpulse.byheir.com
  • Problem: a multi-partner book of business tracked across spreadsheets, CRMs, and ad-hoc reports — no shared view of portfolio health or partner engagement.
  • Approach: shipped a relationship-analytics PWA with portfolio health scoring, KPI dashboards, account intelligence, and AI-generated executive comms — built solo end-to-end.
  • Decision: chose a zero-infrastructure serverless stack (GitHub Pages + Cloudflare Workers with secure API proxying) so the team can own the platform without standing up ops or paying for unused capacity.
  • Stack: React 18, Vite, Recharts, Cloudflare Workers, Claude Sonnet 4.

AI-Augmented Reporting & Validation Platform (The Builder)
Sole architect
  • Problem: reporting pipelines kept accumulating validation debt — one-off checks, ad-hoc fixes, no audit trail when downstream numbers shifted.
  • Approach: architected a multi-stage data-validation and report-generation platform with automated quality gates and an audit trail at every step.
  • Decision: wired GitHub, Supabase, and external AI APIs into a CI/CD-style release flow with branch review, change auditing, and merge controls — applying enterprise release discipline to analytics tooling.
  • Stack: Python, Snowflake, Supabase, GitHub Actions, AI APIs.

IronLog Analytics Ecosystem
Sole designer + engineer · ironlog.space
  • Problem: tracking workouts, finances, and nutrition meant juggling disconnected apps with no shared data layer or trend visibility.
  • Approach: built a three-app analytics PWA suite (IronLog, FinanceLog, NutritionLog) on a unified Supabase backend with SSO and real-time data sync.
  • Decision: layered session-level monitoring and feature-effectiveness tracking on top so each app generates product analytics that feed back into the next iteration.
  • Stack: React 18, Vite 6, Supabase, Vercel, Cloudflare R2, PWA.
